Tomorrow we are wrapping our first session of @UMatter teen talks, one of many to come!

This is such an important program, and we are thrilled that we are a safe space for teens to discuss their challenges and develop healthy coping mechanisms for their future.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re reminded how important it is for teens to have safe spaces early on, because nobody should have to navigate growing up alone.

That’s why programs like UMatter Teen Talks at Friendship Circle matter so deeply. Led by Emily, the program creates space for teens to talk honestly about emotions, stress, relationships, identity, and life, with support, guidance, and without judgment.

Every teen deserves a place where they feel heard. 💛

“Being a mom to my son means learning to listen with my heart instead of just my ears... It isn’t always easy, but it is incredibly rewarding to be the one who knows his soul’s language best. He made me a mom, and he made me stronger than I thought I ever could be.”
— Kerry W.

The mothers in our community shape Friendship Circle in ways that can’t always be measured. Through their care, vulnerability, humor, strength, and deep understanding of their children, they help create a community where families feel seen, supported, and connected.

“Being a part of the Friendship Circle community means my son has a place to be himself and be loved and cared for, while I have a support group of moms who ‘get it.’”
— Kari N.

To all the mothers in our community: thank you.

The love you give your children shines far beyond your own homes. It shapes friendships, programs, volunteers, and the feeling of belonging so many families find here.

You face challenges with courage, patience, wisdom, and an incredible amount of love. We are so grateful for everything you bring into this community.

Happy Mother’s Day 💐

Adults with special needs ages 18+ meet at Soul Cafe each week for relaxed conversation, games, friendship, and community, led by our staff members and volunteers.

This Friendship Circle program is designed to help participants connect, socialize, and start the day together in a welcoming space.

Meet sisters Noa and Raya. Their family first came
Meet sisters Noa and Raya. Their family first came to Friendship Circle looking for a place where Raya could be herself and find a community that understands her.

What they discovered was that Noa needed that same sense of support and belonging too.

At home, there is so much love, and there can also be real challenges. Noa noticed how these challenges can affect siblings of children with special needs, and she wanted to make a difference. She reached out to Bassie and asked if she could help bring back the Siblings Group.

Siblings Group is a safe, welcoming space where teens can share, laugh, and feel seen. It is for the siblings who sometimes feel like their own feelings are pushed to the side while they’re busy being strong for everyone else.

Our Siblings Group meets monthly and is designed specifically for teens ages 14–17 who get it, because they’re living it too.

Know a teen who could use this kind of community? Invite them to join us and find support, understanding, and friends who truly understand. (Link in bio.)

Elkus Village is powered by volunteers!

People who show up, week after week, to create a space where kids can practice real life lessons.

One of those volunteers spent her career as an elementary school teacher. Now retired Rosanne, didn’t slow down… she just found a new classroom.🍎

After seeing the Village for the first time, she knew she had to be part of it. If you’ve ever thought about volunteering, this might be your moment.

Every serve, every point, every laugh helped support Friendship Circle and the people we serve every day. That’s what this was really about.

Swipe through to catch some of our favorite moments. Thank you to everyone who played, came out to support, and made this event what it was.

Until next year!
